Controlled explosiveness…

The shape takes the basics of the Icon model, with some modified elements to make it more efficient in small and weak waves and more agile in small spaces:

1. The straighter rocker in the center part, under the front foot, makes it easier to generate speed, even in weak conditions.

2. The bottom, ending with a more pronounced V off the tail, delivers quicker rail to rail transitions.

3. The outline has a mild bump that accentuates the pivot point over the side fins, allowing to draw tighter lines.

Shaper’s breakdown

With this shape, I tweaked the Icon model toward a version more suited for small and weak waves: efficient, reactive and dynamic, without the cumbersome feeling of the ordinary “groveler”.

To achieve the goal I made some subtle but significant changes: to the curve of the rocker (slightly flatter), to the outline design (to offer a larger planing area) and to the V under the tail (more deep).

The result is a very balanced shape, resolutely hi-performance but also tolerant, capable of giving a boost in mediocre or average conditions.”

For ideal efficiency in small to medium waves, choose this model as long as your height, with a little more width than normal.

If most of the time you surf less than good conditions, order this shape a bit longer and narrower, and enjoy it as an everyday board.

More tech

The outline draws a fluid and rounded line, with a mild break at the level of the front fins allowing to increase the planning area while keeping a tail not too wide.

The bottom has a single concave under the front foot, a slight double concave between the side fins, and a fairly pronounced V off the tail.

The rocker is progressive, with a relatively straight line in the central part and more accentuated at the ends.

The volume is rather centered between the surfer’s feet, a little bit more in the rear compared to the Icon model.
